Mr. Gatkouth,
I believed that you were really impressed by the social and the nature of that country except that you were not free to talk your mine out. But....., as you were a visitor and a foreigner, I am sure you did not detect other sagas that effect Cubans in their daily lives. On and after the collapse of Soviet Union, West invested trillions of Dollars almost on the entire World to diminish Communism. That is why countries like Russia almost sank in poverty. China fought its way out but did not have any mentioned good relationship with the US. Both Russia and China do not have any good relationship with the US until today. More over the Cold War is not finish yet. Some departments still function the very same strategies. As you can see, most of countries that did not match the US sank under their own internal problems. Obviously that is another cold strategy that West uses to fight communism. They are always quick to impose sanctions and turn the country upside down. Delicately, War on Terror seems to have taken the priority of the West. Hence, communism is being despised not like it used to, however.
Under these circumstances, whether Cuba should be kept a friend or not remains irrelevant. We had and still having the money used to fight terrorism. We agreed that we wanted this money to rebuild the country and not communism or its affiliations. Time changes and so the situations in some countries. There will be a time that even Cuba will have to change. Also do not forget that West is working day and night to change Cuba. When Cuba is changed, then we will remember our old ties and rebuild them. All I can hope for the sack of the old good ties is to wish Cuba a quick recovery. They will understand that.
